The Look: New Year’s Eve Glam

New Year’s Eve, the perfect excuse for some shimmer!  Today’s look it’s simple and elegant and easy to pair with most outfits.
The focus point if this look I wanted it be the highlight.  I used High Beam from Benefit, it’s beautiful, you can go from a subtle look to disco ball (like my case in this post), just by layering on the product.

I started working with the eyes.  I applied a cream color all over the lid and in the crease a light gray color.  In the lower lid a darker shade of gray, in the outer coner a black eyeshadow (avoiding going up to the crease, we don’t want the “black eye” look) and in the center a shinmery silver color, blended so that there are no harsh lines.  In the lower lid I applied the dark gray and to the outer corner the black eyeshadow.  To finish the eyes, a thin line of black eyeliner and false lashes.
In the cheeks I used a pink blush and then, the star of the look, the highlighter, in the top of the cheekbones.  And to finish the look, lipgloss.
Products I used:
Eyes:

It Cosmetics “Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil”
Urban Decay “Naked2″ Palette”

The Look: Merry & Green

Another festive makeup look, (you can see my last one here)!  I love the way this one turn out, it looks so pretty and elegant, perfect for a Holiday Party, even if just a party of one (I have those all the time!).
I decided to do something different and added some color to it, and that green eyeshadow is gorgeous! Plus, I decided to just add some false lashes and skip the eyeliner (no cat eye, shocking!).  I was indecisive of what lipstick to choose, so I choose two, and I really like it with both! So, it all dependes if you like it more simple or if you want to go all out.

I started this look working with the eyes, but specially with the crease, from the outer corner of the eye and up to the temple, I put a piece of tape (a tip learned at Alvarez Ninoshka makeup seminar, you can read about it here) to get that straight line.  I started applying the eyeshadows (from the Naked2 palette) to the crease in the order you can see in the next photo.  The black one I concentrated in the outer corner, not in all the crease area like the others.

Then I applied the lightest color to the brow bone to blend everything and not have any harsh lines.
In the lid I applied the gorgeous green eyeshadow from the Coastal Scents, Fall Festive Palette and in the center I bit of Half Baked from the Naked2 Palette, for some more shimmer.  In the lower lid the green eyeshadow, in outer end a bit of black and in the inner corner Champagne Pop to open up the eye.
In the face I contoured a little, in the cheeks I kept it soft but shimmery and some highlight as the finish touch.

Eyes:

Urban Decay “Naked2″ Palette”
Coastal Scents “Fall Festive” Palette
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in “Champagne Pop by Jaclyn Hill”
It Cosmetics “Hello Lashes” Mascara
Andrea False Lashes in “21”

Face:

It Cosmetics “Feel The Moment” Anti-aging, Ultra Hydrating Sensory Awakening Primer Serum
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation in “228 Soft Tan”
It Cosmetics “Bye Bye Under Eye” Full Coverage Anti-aging Waterproof Concealer with Hydro-collagen, Vitamin C & K
CoverGirl Loose Powder in “110 Translucent Light” (To set the concealer)
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder in “220 Natural Beige”
Cheeks:
NARS Blush in “Orgasm”
NARS Bronzer in “Casino”
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in “Champagne Pop by Jaclyn Hill”

Option 1: ColourPop Lippie To Go in “Bound”
Option 2: Esika Colorfix Maxtime in “Vino Chic”

Happy Holidays!

Makeup Seminar Experience

Last week I had the opportunity to go to a Makeup Seminar by Alvarez Ninoshka, and let me just say I was impressed.  First of all the event, that was held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico, was incredibly well organized. The afternoon started with a delicious lunch and after that the makeup goodness started.  Alvarez Ninoshka walked down the red carpet to the stage like a celebrity, but don’t let that foul you, by the way she talked and explained everything I could see that she is a down to earth person that loves what she does, and also very funny.  The first part of the seminar was her doing a makeup demonstration in a model, and explaining every step, as simple as possible, so that everyone could understand.  And the second part was for each participant to do their own makeup.  She had a great team, there was a person for each table that was available to answer questions and help everyone do their makeup.  The last part of the event was a raffle with awesome prizes like, Sigma products, Kat Von D Contour Palette, a Glamcor Lamp, a directors chair and many more good stuff.  Plus, everyone there took home a Urban Decay Naked2 palette!
If you life in Puerto Rico, and have the opportunity to go to one of Alvarez’ Ninoshka makeup seminar, I definitely recommend it.  I like to think that I know a lot about makeup, but I learned a few tips and tricks from her, so for me it’s worth the investment. Who doesn’t want to do their makeup and look great?
I will be sharing with you some of the things I learned in another post this week (that would be two post in one week! Yay!!).
PS.
I’m in no way sponsored by Alvarez Ninoshka, but if the opportunity was giving to me, I will love to be part of her team (wink, wink).
Here are some pictures of the event.

The Look: Bold Old Hollywood

This Saturday was my company holiday party and my dresses reminded me of Audrey Hepburn, so I decided to go for a Old Hollywood glam look with bold eyeliner, and I loved it!

In the eyes I decided to keep it simple, with all matte eye shadows.  All over the lid I dusted a cream color (Strange) and then I applied it more heavily in the lower lid to get more color pay off.  In the crease I first applied a rose color (Limit) to work as a blending shade and then a more light brown purple (Nooner) to emphasize more the crease.  My favorite part of the look was the bold cat eye liner (that doesn’t seen so bold in the photos, but it was dramatic) and false lashes.  As a finish touch, I applied “Champagne Pop” in the brow bone and also in the inner corner with a wet brush for a stronger, more metallic highlight.
I kept the simple look thru the face. I contour with a darker concealer to shape the face.  A pink matte blush and “Champagne Pop” as a highlighter, were the perfect compliment  for this look.  And for the glamorous Old Hollywood touch a matte red lipsticks (since we are in the #12daysofredlipstick, that you can read about here).
I loved this look, I felt so glamorous and elegant, definitely the look I was going for.

Holiday Season Must-Have

The Holiday season is here! And we have to be on point in every party, every photo, any time.  Today I am sharing with you what I consider are the must have products this season.

1. Black Eyeliner

Is the season for smokey eyes, and the best complement for a smokey look is black eyeliner.  My favorites:

Maybelline- Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner

This one is my favorite for my cat eye.  I have bought other liquid eyeliners, but I always come back to this one.  You can go from a fine line to a bold one if you want.  The wand helps you be as precise as you want.

Too Faced- Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner

This eyeliner is so creamy when you put it on, but once it dries its not going anywhere.  In one side you have the eyeliner and in the other you have a smudging tip for the perfect smokey effect.

2. False Lashes

I love falses lashes, I wish I had the time and courage to where them everyday, so when the Holidays are here the false lashes are on.
Ardell are my go to brand, but I’m not picky. I usually buy mine at Walgreens and I will pick up the brand that is on sell as long as they look cute.

3. Highlighter

This one is obvious, ’cause of course you have to shine!

Becca x Jaclyn Hill- Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in “Champagne Pop”

I’m so in love with this product, out of 7 days of the week I am sure I use it 5 days.  It’s a golden peach shimmer that looks great in everyone. It’s so pigmented, I use a little dab of this in the top of my cheek bones for an everyday glow, but when I’m feeling more dramatic this goes in the top of my cheek bones, in the inner corner of the eyes, in the brow bone, a bit down the bridge of the nose and in my cupid’s bow.

Benefit- Watts’s Up! Cream to Powder Highlighter

This highlighter was my go to before Champagne Pop (sorry!), but it’s still one of my favorites.  It’s a champagne color too, but this one is more pearly pink.  It looks really pretty.  If you want a more dewy finish this one is for you.
4. Red Lipstick
Red lipstick is a must have in any season, it’s a classic and it’s always in.  I love red lips, daytime with soft/ natural makeup, or nighttime with smokey eye (I don’t follow rules, if you want to wear bold lips and bold eyes, work it!)
I have a couple of favorite red lipsticks, but this one is my favorite of favorites.  It’s matte, but creamy and long wearing.  And the color is so pretty, this one is definitely worth it.

To share with you my love for red lipsticks, starting tomorrow, December 1st, in my Instagram, @steph_silva89 and my Facebook page, “Dreaming Life in Pink”, I will be doing “12 Days of Red Lipsticks”, where I will be sharing 12 of my favorite red lipsticks.  I will love for you join me during those 12 days and let me know your favorite lipsticks, be sure to post your photo on Instagram, tag me, and use the hashtag #12daysofredlipsticks and #dreaminglifeinpink. I have the girls at work up for it, so you will be seeing our photos.

I am excited for the Holiday Season, and I’m more excited for the “12 Days of Red Lipsticks”, I hope you join me.

Makeup of the Day: Thanksgiving

I am thankful for so many things, my family, friends, my little blog and specially I am thankful of everyone who takes the time to read my posts, thank you for your support, it means a lot.

Today I am sharing my makeup look for the day.  I decided to do more of a dark look, with lots of eyeliner, something a don’t usually do.

First I dusted a little bit of “Strange” from the Naked 3 Palette, a light matte cream color, for a base.  I applied “Nonner”, a light matte purple-ish color, really light handed for a wash of color. In the lid I used “Bark” from Elf, and packed it on, so that the pretty color of this eyeshadow really showed. In the lower lash line I applied black eyeliner and blend it with “Darkside” a matte gray color, for a smokey look.
To finish the eye look a black cat eye and “Champagne Pop” in the inner corner to open up the eye.
In the face a golden peach blush and “Champagne Pop” for highlight. And in the lips a medium brown lipstick.
I am in the look out for a dark brown lipstick, preferable matte, I’ll appreciate your suggestions.
Products I used:
Face:
L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte in “105 Natural Beige”
It Cosmetics “Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer”
Makeup Forever Microfinish Powder

Cheeks:
Too Faced Blush (from the 2013 limited edition set “All I Want for Christmas”)
Becca “Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed” in “Champagne Pop”
Eyes:
It Cosmetics “Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil”
Urban Decay “Naked 3” Palette
Elf Baked Eyeshadow in “Bark”
Too Faced “Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner”
Maybelline “Line Stilettos” Liquid Eyeliner

S.O.S- Study Over Sleep: Episode 2

Finals are around the coner and I want to share with you another study technique.  In my first S.O.S post (that you can read here), I talked about reviewing your notes everyday, todays study tip is: use flashcards.

I prefer the small ones (normal size). In the plain side I will write a question, and in the other side the answer.  I will go thru them and read them the first couple of times, and then I will try to answer without looking at the answers, the ones that I know, or have less problems answering go to the side in a pile that doesn’t need much reinforcement, and I  keep working with the other ones. I make two rounds with the ones I need to study more and one round with the other pile and I keep adding to it, until I’m confident that I know the material and they are one pile again.
I like this technique because you are reading the material, writing it down, and then making yourself questions about it and trying to answered them without looking at the answers, and it helps me learn the material more effectively.
Remember, never stop dreaming and working for your dreams.

Tired and ready to go!

Happy Friday!

Long story short, last night I went to bed really late, because I had a movie night with a friend (we watched “San Andrea”, great, intense movie), and today I had work so I had to get up early. I’ve been using this week It Cosmetics “Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-aging Waterproof Concealer with Hydro-collagen, Vitamin C & K“, and today was the moment of truth.

Would you have known that I didn’t get much sleep last night?
The first time that I used it, my first though was that it would crease and emphasize all my fine lines, because of its consistency, it’s thick, kind of sticky, but the best part is that you don’t need a lot of product.  I set it with Makeup Forever “Microfinish Powder” and haven’t had problems with creasing, and stays on all day.
I also have been using their “Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil“, and it was love at first application. The color is perfect for me, it’s not waxy and it blends really well.  Now I can understand the hype around this products, so far so good! I really recommend them.
