Holiday Season Must-Have

The Holiday season is here! And we have to be on point in every party, every photo, any time.  Today I am sharing with you what I consider are the must have products this season.

1. Black Eyeliner

Is the season for smokey eyes, and the best complement for a smokey look is black eyeliner.  My favorites:

Maybelline- Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner

This one is my favorite for my cat eye.  I have bought other liquid eyeliners, but I always come back to this one.  You can go from a fine line to a bold one if you want.  The wand helps you be as precise as you want.

Too Faced- Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner

This eyeliner is so creamy when you put it on, but once it dries its not going anywhere.  In one side you have the eyeliner and in the other you have a smudging tip for the perfect smokey effect.

2. False Lashes

I love falses lashes, I wish I had the time and courage to where them everyday, so when the Holidays are here the false lashes are on.
Ardell are my go to brand, but I’m not picky. I usually buy mine at Walgreens and I will pick up the brand that is on sell as long as they look cute.

3. Highlighter

This one is obvious, ’cause of course you have to shine!

Becca x Jaclyn Hill- Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in “Champagne Pop”

I’m so in love with this product, out of 7 days of the week I am sure I use it 5 days.  It’s a golden peach shimmer that looks great in everyone. It’s so pigmented, I use a little dab of this in the top of my cheek bones for an everyday glow, but when I’m feeling more dramatic this goes in the top of my cheek bones, in the inner corner of the eyes, in the brow bone, a bit down the bridge of the nose and in my cupid’s bow.

Benefit- Watts’s Up! Cream to Powder Highlighter

This highlighter was my go to before Champagne Pop (sorry!), but it’s still one of my favorites.  It’s a champagne color too, but this one is more pearly pink.  It looks really pretty.  If you want a more dewy finish this one is for you.
4. Red Lipstick
Red lipstick is a must have in any season, it’s a classic and it’s always in.  I love red lips, daytime with soft/ natural makeup, or nighttime with smokey eye (I don’t follow rules, if you want to wear bold lips and bold eyes, work it!)
I have a couple of favorite red lipsticks, but this one is my favorite of favorites.  It’s matte, but creamy and long wearing.  And the color is so pretty, this one is definitely worth it.

To share with you my love for red lipsticks, starting tomorrow, December 1st, in my Instagram, @steph_silva89 and my Facebook page, “Dreaming Life in Pink”, I will be doing “12 Days of Red Lipsticks”, where I will be sharing 12 of my favorite red lipsticks.  I will love for you join me during those 12 days and let me know your favorite lipsticks, be sure to post your photo on Instagram, tag me, and use the hashtag #12daysofredlipsticks and #dreaminglifeinpink. I have the girls at work up for it, so you will be seeing our photos.

I am excited for the Holiday Season, and I’m more excited for the “12 Days of Red Lipsticks”, I hope you join me.

Makeup of the Day: Thanksgiving

I am thankful for so many things, my family, friends, my little blog and specially I am thankful of everyone who takes the time to read my posts, thank you for your support, it means a lot.

Today I am sharing my makeup look for the day.  I decided to do more of a dark look, with lots of eyeliner, something a don’t usually do.

First I dusted a little bit of “Strange” from the Naked 3 Palette, a light matte cream color, for a base.  I applied “Nonner”, a light matte purple-ish color, really light handed for a wash of color. In the lid I used “Bark” from Elf, and packed it on, so that the pretty color of this eyeshadow really showed. In the lower lash line I applied black eyeliner and blend it with “Darkside” a matte gray color, for a smokey look.
To finish the eye look a black cat eye and “Champagne Pop” in the inner corner to open up the eye.
In the face a golden peach blush and “Champagne Pop” for highlight. And in the lips a medium brown lipstick.
I am in the look out for a dark brown lipstick, preferable matte, I’ll appreciate your suggestions.

Face:
L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte in “105 Natural Beige”

S.O.S- Study Over Sleep: Episode 2

Finals are around the coner and I want to share with you another study technique.  In my first S.O.S post (that you can read here), I talked about reviewing your notes everyday, todays study tip is: use flashcards.

I prefer the small ones (normal size). In the plain side I will write a question, and in the other side the answer.  I will go thru them and read them the first couple of times, and then I will try to answer without looking at the answers, the ones that I know, or have less problems answering go to the side in a pile that doesn’t need much reinforcement, and I  keep working with the other ones. I make two rounds with the ones I need to study more and one round with the other pile and I keep adding to it, until I’m confident that I know the material and they are one pile again.
I like this technique because you are reading the material, writing it down, and then making yourself questions about it and trying to answered them without looking at the answers, and it helps me learn the material more effectively.
Remember, never stop dreaming and working for your dreams.

Tired and ready to go!

Happy Friday!

Long story short, last night I went to bed really late, because I had a movie night with a friend (we watched “San Andrea”, great, intense movie), and today I had work so I had to get up early. I’ve been using this week It Cosmetics “Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-aging Waterproof Concealer with Hydro-collagen, Vitamin C & K“, and today was the moment of truth.

Would you have known that I didn’t get much sleep last night?
The first time that I used it, my first though was that it would crease and emphasize all my fine lines, because of its consistency, it’s thick, kind of sticky, but the best part is that you don’t need a lot of product.  I set it with Makeup Forever “Microfinish Powder” and haven’t had problems with creasing, and stays on all day.
I also have been using their “Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil“, and it was love at first application. The color is perfect for me, it’s not waxy and it blends really well.  Now I can understand the hype around this products, so far so good! I really recommend them.

The Look: Festive Fall

Thanksgiving day is around the corner, and what better excuse to go all out with your makeup than the Holidays! This look was inspired by fall colors.  In the lid I have a cooper eye-shadow, in the crease a burgundy eye-shadow with golden shimmer (it’s gorgeous!), in the outer corner a deep brown to intensify that area of the eye, and in the inner corner a shimmery cream color to open up the eye.  In the lower lash line a I have the burgundy color and in the outer corner the deep brown to give dimension to the look. To finish the eye look, my favorite trend of the season, a bold cat eye and false lashes.

I kept the rest of the face simple and neutral, so that the eyes are the focus point of the look.  And because all the eye-shadows have shimmer in them, i kept the rest of the products matte, except for a little of highlighting in the top of the cheeks.

What I used:

Face:
L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte in “105 Natural Beige”
Makeup Forever Microfinish Powder
Nars Bronzer in “Casino”
Lancome Blush in “Cedar Rose”
Benefit “High Bean” highlighter

Eyes:
Coastal Scents Palette in “Fall Festive”
Maybelline “Line Stilettos” Liquid Eyeliner
Lancome “Hypnose Drama” Mascara
Andrea False Lashes in “21”

Lips:
NYX soft matte lip cream in “Abu Dhabi”

The Makeup Christmas List

It’s November! In my house that means that the Holiday season has just started!! Christmas music and decorations are coming out, I am loving it! One of the things I love most about this season: MAKEUP! It’s the time of year for special packaging and sets.  In this post I will be sharing the ones that have caught my eye.  (You can click in the name of the product for more information.)

How fun are this little lipsticks? There is a color for every time of the year, so you will not feel to bad about spending $42 in this set.  Plus, lipsticks are a makeup product that you can use everyday, at least I do.
Those blushes… the colors… speechless! I really can see my self using this blushes everyday, plus the “Laguna” bronzer is one of my favorites.  And the lip gloss is a great everyday color that you can throw on your purse and use with everything.  This palette may be a bit pricey at $59, but I can see it being a staple in my collection.
Another blush palette! With this palette, I like the fact that you can try 5 of their powders for the price of two, so that’s great.  I like the way the “Coralista” and “Rockateur” look, I haven’t try the “Hoola” bronzer, but I have heard great things about it.  I think this palette at $42 it’s really worth it!
Yes, please!! So it may be out of budget at $159, but with a single palette costing $54, it’s a great value for the set! I own the Naked 3 and love it (so does my mom, the palette it’s always in her room), and all the other palettes are great. Mensaje para mami: ¡Hay está la paleta que tu quieres, si me lo compras es tuya!  Ok. que tal mitad y mitad, qué dices? (Message for mami: “There is the palette that you want, if you buy me this you can have it!  Ok, maybe half and half, what do you say?)  Of all, I would really like to own this set.
I have a thing for Too Faced packaging! how cute is this dollhouse? I like that you have a combination of eye shadow colors and finishes.  All though I think the blushes and bronzer are to light for my skin tone.  So, I don’t know if the $49 will be worth it for me, but still cute.
So there you have it! If someone is feeling generous and wants to buy me one I will be really grateful, you wont even have to wrapped it!
I am definitely dreaming.

Confidence Booster

I know people that feel extra special with certain clothes, wearing a specific color, with nice accessories or the perfect pair of shoes, this just boosts their self esteem and confidence.  For me it’s makeup, but specially two lipsticks.  With them I feel great, like I could concord the word! You will see me where them on exam days, when I am feeling stressed out or when I want to feel my best, they’re my confidence booster.

Milani- 65 “Matte Glam

ésika- “Colorfix Maxtime” in “Fucsia Express”

Photos are from my vacation days this past summer. I think the reason this lipsticks make me feel great it’s because they bring great memories to my mind, I had an awesome week of vacation.
This lipsticks are affordable, with great staying power and the best part, they have a matte finish (they’ve been my favorite lately).
I will like to know what’s your confidence booster, tell me in the comments.
PS.
Here is a summary in photos of my summer 2015 vacations.
