The Look: Fire in Her Eyes

I have been trying really hard to incorporate color to my eye makeup, because I have been into neutral eyes for quite some time.  I believe changes should be made gradually and this look is my attempt to start changing.  To be comfortable with myself I did a neutral eye and a pop of red.
I have to say I am really impressed with how it turned out, I think it looks pretty and simple.  I went about my day very happy, feeling good with my makeup.
I started with my usual go to steps to start any eye makeup, a crème color eyeshadow all over the lid, and a tan color in the crease to use as my transition shade.  After that, I applied an orange shade to the crease, because I am still obsessed with my Naked Heat palette from Urban Decay (you can see another look using this palette here), I applied “Ounce” to the lower lid, a satin cream shade, and “He Devil” a warm orange-brown to the outer portion of the crease.  On the lower lid I dusted a bit of the orange shade and then applied “He Devil” to connect everything.
To bring that pop of color I wanted, I used a red eyeshadow and applied that with an angled liner brush, and sprayed with MAC’s Fix+, to create my cat eye.  To finish, a little bit of highlighter in the inner corner.
In the face, I applied my foundation, powder and bronzer as usual, and applied an almost red blush to keep the color scheme.  I like this blush, Ombre Blush in “Insta Flame” from NYX Cosmetics a lot, but most of the time I am afraid to use it because of the color and how pigmented it is, but I went light handed and everything was ok.  As a final step in the face I applied Highlighter, a step that I never skip, I love me some highlighters.
For the lips, to tie everything together I applied a not to dark brown lipstick.  The one I used is “Raw Chocolate” from Maybelline’s Nude Collection, is my most worn lipstick, it’s a perfect every day, conservative shade, matte but still moisturizing on the lips.
Do you incorporate color in your makeup? If you do, what is your favorite way to do it? Or, are you like me, trying to not be afraid of it? Let me know in the comments.
At the end of the post you can find the list of products I used.
Never stop dreaming.

The Look: Sunset Eyes

What better way to come back to blogging than with this beautiful eyeshadow palette? I think it’s perfect!

As soon as I saw the new Naked Heat palette from Urban Decay in social media I feel in love. The colors are so pretty, and I really like how the orange-y colors look on my hazel eyes, I knew this palette was a must have in my life.

I love the results of this makeup look, it makes me think of a beautiful sunset, and sunsets are one of my favorite things in the world.  As soon as I finished doing my makeup I knew I had to share it.

I started with the shade “Ounce” all over the lid as my base color, and then applied “Sauce as my transition shade on the crease.  After that the fun started. I applied “Cayenne” on the crease and then jumper to work on the lower lid with “Lumbre” that I sprayed with a bit of Mac’s Fix+, to make it shine even more.  Then I returned to the crease, there I applied “En Fuego” a lower than “Cayenne” and to darken the look I took “Ashes” and applied it forming a “v” on the outer conner of the eye.

In the lower lid I applied first my transition shade “Sauced” then “Cayenne” without bringing it to close to inner conner, to finish and connect the shadow I did a little bit of “Ashes” on the outer conner.

I finished the eyes with a black cat eye and mascara. On the face a bit of bronzer and pretty nude shade of blush.  On the lips, because I wanted the attention on the eyes, I went with a nude shade, and after that I was ready to go.

I hope you love this look as much as I did. Let me know in the comments what are your thoughts on this new palette from Urban Decay, if you love it as much as me or if it’s a pass for you.

I have listed all the products with links at the end of the post if you want to know the other products I used.

I love being back on Dreaming Life in Pink. Thank you for taking your time to read me. Until next time.

October Makeup Wishlist (Study Motivation)

I tend to always do a Makeup Wishlist at the start of a new semester, but this semester I didn’t came around do it.  Now that this term is coming to an end, I feel like this is the perfect time to do it, I really need the inspiration.  My goal with these wishlists is to give my best, try to earn good grades, and at the end of the semester I will reward my myself with something from the list.  They are usually high-end products, but this time I have 2 drugstore products that I really want.

1. NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick

I have to admit I was late to this party, while everyone was raving about them they didn’t caught my eye.  One day I was looking for a brown lipstick and found Teddy, and decided to give it a try.  If you follow me on Instagram, this goes without saying, I am obsessed with it, I think that I wear it 4 out 7 days in the week, it looks so pretty, and it feels so good.  (I also created a “The Look” post with it, you can read it here.)  After that I went and bought Exotic that I also really like. Now I am determined to own the majority of the shades, if not all of them, I am that obsessed.

2. Wet n’ Wild ColorIcon Rainbow Highlighter

I have to confess that the only reason I haven’t bought this highlighter yet is because I can’t find it anywhere, I think it hasn’t come to Puerto Rico yet (If someone knows where I could find it, please let me know).  I really think that as soon as I see it on stores I will be buying it.  It looks so pretty, so colorful, I don’t own anything like it, it will be so fun to have in my collection. Can’t wait!

3.  Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics

I am sure this is a product I NEED in my life.  I love all my Naked palettes (the only one I don’t own is the Naked Smokey one, and it’s on my first Study Motivation Makeup Wishlist that you can see here, and I still want it).  But this palette looks perfect for everyday, I don’t wear eye shadows everyday, but with this I am sure I will.  The colors look so pretty, and the different shades will work well from a everyday natural look to a dramatic smokey eye.

4. BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal

Highlighters are part of my everyday makeup routine. My favorite highlighter is Champagne Pop by Jaclyn Hill from Becca, and I really want to try another one from them, in hopes that it is the same formula and pigmentation as Champagne Pop.  I have my eye on Opal because of the color.  I tend to always go for golden/bronze shades in my highlighters, this one is gold but has a hint of pink in it, which makes me very attracted to it. I am dreaming about it.

5. Kat Von D Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Set

How cute does those colors look?! I don’t own anything from Kat Von D, but most of the time they make their way into my Wishlists, I am hoping I can change that soon and this set looks like it may be it. This 8 shades go from natural to dramatic, and I am a firm believer that a girl needs to have choices.  I can see my self on a Friday night rocking that blue shade, yes please!  They have really good reviews, I am excited to see them personally on Sephora.

I will love to know what is currently on your makeup wishlist, be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Always dreaming,

 Steph

The Look: Fall Lover

Last week I celebrated my first year of blogging, you can go read the post here, and in my book, there is no better way to celebrate than with makeup.
I got inspired with the idea of Fall, and I say idea, because theres is no Autumn in Puerto Rico, here is always Summer, always hot. I love the typical Fall colors and my Coastal Scents, Festive Fall Palette, is perfect for this time of year, and that is how this look was born.
I applied my primer, foundation, concealer and powder, and then went to play with my eye makeup. First I applied a light cream color all over the lid to help the eyeshadows I was going to apply later blend better. And then the fun begun!
I started blending the orange color from my Wet n Wild, Art in the Streets,  eyeshadow palette in my crease, as a blending color.  Then I choose a bronze color for the upper lid and in the middle a more golden one. In the crease I applied a brown eyeshadow that I blended with the orange I first applied.  Because I wanted this look to have a lot of orange I applied that same shade in my lower lid and in the outer conner a little bit of the brown to darken the look. I did a cat eye (my favorite way to wear eyeliner), and applied a little bit of black eyeliner to the outer conner of my lower lid. The final touch was two coats of mascara.
In my face I did a bit of contour, mostly because the foundation I’m using is bit lighter for me and I use it to give my face more color.  In the cheeks I applied a orange blush to go with the eyes, and highlighted the high points of my face and the inner conner of the eyes with the bronze shade in my Wet n Wild, megaglo Illuminating Palette in Catwalk Pink.
To finish the look I applied what has been my favorite lip color this past few weeks, a beautiful brown matte shade that feels good on the lips.
Here is the list of products I used:
Face:
L’Oreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation in N3.5
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles in Light
Coty Airspun Translucent Loose Face Powder

Cheeks:

The Look: Tropical Spring

As a Spring resolution I dare myself to use more color on my makeup, at least for this season. And this is the first look I have created that is so colorful, and of course, it has pink.
Dreaming Life in Pink Spring Makeup

In the eyes I first applied a light orange shade all over the lower lid and then a darker orange without bring it to the inner corner of the eye.  In the crease I applied a bright fuchsia shade, creating a cut crease effect and blended it with a lighter pink shade.  In the lower lash line I used a orangy-copper shade.  To bring light to the eyes, I used a highlighter in the inner corner of the eye, in the brow bone below the brows and a little touch of it on the top of the arch of my brow.  I did a cat eye with brown gel liner and to finish I applied mascara to my lashes.

Dreaming Life in Pink Spring Makeup
I contoured my face with a bronzer and then I applied an orange shade blush on the cheeks and highlight to the top of my cheeks. I wanted to keep a more natural look on the lips, and for that a created an ombre effect, using Benefit tints, first in pink all over the lips and then in red in the center of the lips.

The Look: Spring Ready

Spring Makeup Dreaming Life in Pink
Spring is officially here! Even though I live in sunny and beautiful Puerto Rico, where it’s summer all year around, I like to celebrate the different season, and what better way to do that than with makeup.
Spring Makeup Dreaming Life in Pink

Today a bring you a look using some new products by NYX Cosmetics and I have to tell you I was surprised with how pigmented they are, and I am loving them.
Spring Makeup Dreaming Life in Pink

I used The Go-To Palette in “Wanderlust” from NYX Cosmetics, I applied the cream color in the lower lid, the pink in the crease and I blended the darkest brown in the crease and outer corner. To darken the look I applied a bit of the dark purple in the outer coner and in the lower lash line. To finish the look a black cat eye liner and mascara.
Spring Makeup Dreaming Life In Pink

For the rest of the look I have on the cheeks a pink reddish blush with the highlighter from the On The Go Palette.  In the lips a beautiful and perfect for spring, pink matte lipstick.

My favorite shade for spring is pink (shocking, I know). What are your favorites shades? I want to experiment with different colors, especially in the eyes, ’cause always tend to go with neutrals.
Happy Spring!

The Perfect Couple

This last week my most use makeup products were 2 cheek products, and what a perfect combination.

For blush, Nars’ “Orgasm” a beautiful pinky peach shade with golden shimmer. And for highlight Becca by Jaclyn Hill’s “Champagne Pop” a golden highlight with pinky peach undertones.  This products together are perfection
I wore this combination 5 days out 7 this past week.  It’s so pretty, not to over the top, but it makes a statement.  It goes well with reds, pinks and corals lipsticks.  In the week days I don’t do much with my eye makeup, but I can see this working with a neutral eye or a soft smokey eye with a pinky peach hint in it.
What products have you been loving? Let me know in the comments, I want to keep adding products to my makeup wishlist.

The Look: Dark Valentine

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and I though I should share with you a makeup look to wear that day.  I wanted something different, not so sweet or pink-ish. So I came up with something dark, but kept the lips nude, so there is no worrying about it when you are eating all your chocolates.

In the eyes I applied a metallic rose shade (Buzz) to the crease. In the lid I first applied a deep taupe-mauve (Darkside), bringing it a bit to the crease and then a smoky black matte with rosy red sparkle (Blackheart) below the crease.  I blend it everything to not have harsh lines.  In the lower lid I applied the same two shades I used in the upper lid.  To bring light to the eyes I applied the highlight shade from the Lancome Blush Subtil Palette in “320 Rose Flush” to the inner corner of the eye and the brow bone.

Because the eyes are dark and dramatic I kept everything else  in the softer side.  In the cheeks a rosy blush and the same pearly pink highlighted that I used in the eyes and in the lips a buttery mauve pink lipstick.

Products I used:
Eyes:
It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara in Black
Face:
Maybelline Matte + Poreless Fit Me Foundation in “228 Soft Tan”
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer in “Light” (Review here)
Cover Girl Professional Loose Powder in “110 Translucent Light”
ColourPop Super Shock Cheek in “Mochi”
Lancome Blush Subtil Palette in “323 Rose Flush”
Lips:
NYX Butter Lipstick in “BLS17 Root Beer Float”
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Review: Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Concealer

Last week I bought the Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer, and told you guys on Instagram that I was going to share my thoughts on it. So here it is.
The shade I choose was “Light”, I always choose a shade or two lighter that my skin tone to brighten the under eye area, forehead, bridge of the nose and chin, and this color came out perfect for that.
Here is a photo of my makeup in the morning, recently applied. I blended it with a makeup sponge and set it my Maybelline Fit Me  Matte + Poreless Powder.  It has a great medium coverage that can be build-able.

That day I went to explore Old San Juan (I am so in love with that city), and walked for around 4 hours, wish means sweat, touching my face and even crying of laughter.

After a long fun day I got home, my makeup (and hair) was a mess, but my under eye makeup was intact. I was so impressed!

I’ve been using it every day since and I don’t have any complains, it’s weightless, you don’t feel it on your skin and it doesn’t crease.

Final thought, I can’t believe I waited so long to try this amazing concealer, I will never forgive my self, it’s that good!
