S.O.S- Study Over Sleep: Episode 2

Finals are around the coner and I want to share with you another study technique.  In my first S.O.S post (that you can read here), I talked about reviewing your notes everyday, todays study tip is: use flashcards.

I prefer the small ones (normal size). In the plain side I will write a question, and in the other side the answer.  I will go thru them and read them the first couple of times, and then I will try to answer without looking at the answers, the ones that I know, or have less problems answering go to the side in a pile that doesn’t need much reinforcement, and I  keep working with the other ones. I make two rounds with the ones I need to study more and one round with the other pile and I keep adding to it, until I’m confident that I know the material and they are one pile again.
I like this technique because you are reading the material, writing it down, and then making yourself questions about it and trying to answered them without looking at the answers, and it helps me learn the material more effectively.
Remember, never stop dreaming and working for your dreams.

S.O.S- Study Over Sleep: Episode 1

This semester so far, my grades have been great.  When I started studying again I was extremely nervous, because it had been 3 years since I graduated from my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources, and all I could think was, that I wouldn’t be able to have time to study, because I work full time (40 hours a week) and that wasn’t the case the first time around.

When I first was in college my study habits weren’t the greatest (thankfully I always had good grades, but they could have been better). This semester I am taking 3 classes that are requirements for a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, I am determined to have good grades and hopefully start my Masters in January.  So, in this post I will be sharing with you one study tip (there will be more in the future), to better grades.

Study Everyday

Something that has been working for me is studying everyday.  I have created the habit of reviewing what was giving in class that night, before I go to sleep, and on Saturdays (that I have more time) I study everything that was giving that week.  Whats great about this technique is that everyday you reinforce what was giving that day and if you have a doubt about the material, you can bring it to the next class.  Also, when you review all your notes once a week, when you study for the exam, you have a feeling of what you already know and what you have to study more, and you can concentrate on that.

I hope you enjoy this tip.

Never stop working for your dreams.

My Study Motivation

I graduated from my Bachelors Degree a couple of years ago, but I am currently taking 3 classes to hopefully start my Masters Degree in January (fingers crossed!).  When I started in August, I had no study habits, so I had to come up with a little motivation.  When I study for exams I tell my self that if I do good I will buy myself something from Sephora, and I told this to my mom and my best friend, that way if I don’t do great they will not let me shop for makeup.  So far, so good!  I have a makeup wishlist ready for when I have the time (and the money) to do my trip to Sephora.

This Becca Highlighter by Jaclyn Hill is in the top of my list.  I am a fan of Jaclyn in Youtube, and I just love the way this highlighter looks.  Can’t wait to get my hands on it!

The Urban Decay shadow palette, Naked Smoky.  I just think it will be perfect for all the smoky eyes I could do during the holidays! Plus, I own the Naked 3 palette and love it, I am sure this one wont disappoint.

I received a sample of the Bobbi Brown Beach Body Scrub at Nordstrom and I fell in love! I know we are not technically in summer anymore, but where I live is always summer and the scent of this scrub just takes your mind to a perfect beach day.

Bring on the exams, I am motivated to do my best!
