My Everyday Royal Makeup Routine

My Everyday Royal Makeup Routine

Hi there!

Today I want to share with you what has been my everyday makeup routine, which my coworkers wouldn’t consider makeup, but I do. I got inspired to share it with you after watching the Royal Wedding. I am a makeup lover, but watching the simple makeup look that Megan Markle wore, left me feeling good about what has become my daily makeup routine.

Source: People

Like I have talk in recent posts, this past couple of weeks have been intense, so I have swap my 10-15 minutes of doing my makeup for a bit more of sleep.

Not doing my makeup started as a way to have more time, but as the weeks have passed I have learn to love my skin just the way it is and also to take better care of it and now it doesn’t feel like a sacrifice, and I skip it because I enjoy my bare face. I know it may be strange for people who are used to see me with a full face of makeup to now see me with barely nothing on, but to me it feels refreshing

Of course that doesn’t mean I will stop using makeup, I still love doing my makeup, and I still enjoy catching up on youtube videos while doing it, is just that for now I will keep doing it in the weekends, when I feel I have more time.

So my makeup routine consists of me doing my brows and whichever shade of lipstick I feel like wearing and then I am ready for the day.

If you are a makeup lover like me, have you have periods of not wearing makeup? What do you think of Megan Markle’s wedding makeup? I will love to know your thoughts, so leave your comments below.

Never stop dreaming,

 Steph

My Current Favorites (April 2018)

Today I want to share with you my current favorites. This time I have a variety of things that I am loving, some of them that make life easier, some more enjoyable and others fun. It think you will be surprise.

The first thing I have to talk about are the Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks. Not having to reapply my lipstick during the day is amazing. I normally apply my lipstick by 7:00 am, just before starting work, and the days I have classes I am usually taking my makeup off very late at night, and on most days me lipstick stills looks good, not perfect, but good. This are the only ones I have been wearing on those long days, so that I can go about my day without having to think about lipstick. Believe when I say that it’s been hard trying not to buy every single shade, but this grown woman has another responsibilities (you can read about that here), so I am trying me best.

I have been using MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Fix+ to set my makeup for quite some time now, but recently I have changed the way I used it and my makeup as been looking and feeling so much better. Now instead of using it as a setting spray I have been using it as a primer. After I apply my serums and moisturizers I spray it on my face and when my face dries I then apply my makeup.  It helps keep my face hydrated, with a glow, but not oily or extremely shiny. Even on days I am not wearing makeup I use it, it has become part of my skincare routine.

If you have read my blog before, you know I am all about body products, especially body wash with delicious scents. I am bit weird and I like having one to use on the mornings, other at nights, and I have another I use when I take a shower at a different time of the day and when I scrub, since right now they are the same scent. But my favorite off all is the one I use at night. This Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Body Wash in the scent Comfort is so good. I am convinced that it helps me relax after a long day before going to bed. I have been incorporating mindfulness into my shower routine, and being present and aware of the sent, the bubbles it forms (I use a loofah with it) and the warm water, it has made taking a shower at night an amazing experience, something to look forward to every day. And then applying the body butter is just like the cherry on top.

My other favorite goes in hand with the last one. Another good smelling product, but this time for my apartment. Since the day I started moving to my apartment I put a Bath and Body Works Wallflower Plug in my bedroom with the scent Watermelon Lemonade and that is the officially scent of my place. Since then I bought another one, this time for the kitchen, and the lady who helped that day definitely knew how to sell me the Wallflowers Duo Plug, and I have no regrets. I have changed the scent of my room to the Comfort scent and my favorites for the kitchen are Watermelon Lemonade and Black Cheery Merlot (Future Hubby’s favorite scent). When I get home the first thing I do is inhale deeply to savor my good smelling home.

This product I think it may come as a surprise. Yes, one of current favorites is a Prep Solutions by Progressive Microwave Rice Cooker. Oh, how I love this thing! I have been telling everyone I can that they need one ASAP. I enjoy cooking, but I do not enjoy doing the dishes, and I usually wouldn’t make rice just so that I didn’t’ have to wash the pot after ir, plus I am going to be real, I still haven’t mastered the art of rice making (that’s Future Hubby’s thing, he knows how to make it, I do the pasta and other things). But with this my days of not cooking rice (at least white plain rice) are over. It’s so easy to use, the rice tastes good, and the best part, it’s easy to clean. I am serious, you need this in your life.

Another favorite is Harry Potter. Yes, I am still obsessed with it (you can read more about here). I don’t know what it is, but I love Harry Potter. One of my gifts from Future Hubby this past Christmas was the complete Harry Potter series. Since I am always reading books, and most of the time not finishing them, I did not wanted to start the series yet, because I felt that I had no time, but it was there tempting me every time I looked at my bookshelf, and finally I caved in. I am just finishing the first book, but if I was obsessed with the movies, I am going crazy with the book. To summarize it, more details, more to the story, more obsessed, end of story. Reading Harry Potter has me day dreaming about going back to Universal Studios in Orlando.

So, that’s it. I will love to know your current favorites, and also if you have suggestions of things I should try, please let me know in the comments section below.

Never Stop Dreaming,

The Look: Color in the Comfort Zone

It’s Spring, and that means color, but if you have read my past blogs you know I am a bit shy when it comes to incorporate color in my makeup, specially in my eye makeup. This time I didn’t went to far from my comfort zone, but I incorporated some color in there, I’m proud.

Since I received Morphe’s The Jaclyn Hill Palette I’ve been in love. And of course that is the palette I used to create this look.

Since I have gotten accustomed to only doing my face makeup, and a little bit of mascara for work I started this time with my face makeup, but when working with colorful or dramatic eyes I always recommend doing the eyes first. So that being said, I will star with explaining what I did with the eyes.

I first applied a little bit of concealer and powder as a base. I then went with “Creamsicle” a matte toasted orange eyeshadow in the crease. For the upper lid I used “Silk Creme” a matte cream, nude shade. Then I smudge a little bit of “Mocha” as eyeliner in the upper lid. Now the fun part begins. In the inner conner I used “Pool Party” a shimmery light blue, aqua shade. To finish this simple, but colorful look I first applied “Enchanted” in the lower lid, a matte dark green eyeshadow and then I blend it with “Jada” a matte emerald shade. Add a couple coats of mascara and done.

For the face I applied my foundation, concealer, I contoured and apply powder. I used a shimmery peachy blush and finished with some never missing highlighter. As for lipstick I used pinkish-nude lipgloss.

This was so much fun, I loved how it turned out. I liked incorporating color in the inner color, when usually what we tend to use there are light shimmering shades. I will definitely be using color in the inner conner more often.

Please tell me, how do you incorporate color in your makeup?

There are things in life we immediately love, and other that we don’t like and are not willing to try again (if we can control it), I’ve had a bit of both lately and of course I want to share them with you.  Most of the things are beauty products but some are things that happen and I we can’t control.

belif – The True Cream Aqua Bomb

I don’t know why for a while I stop using a moisturizer for the day, and my skin was really not happy with me.  One day I went to Sephora to find a new foundation, and thanks the girl that was helping me I realized that my skin care routine was important for how my makeup would look.  I knew that, but somehow I had been ignoring that fact.  Just incorporating this step in my morning routine has definitely changed how my makeup feels and looks.  The Sephora Employee recommended this one, and I have only good things to say about it (I am half way in my second jar), it’s a gel, perfect for combination and oily skin, it absorbs fast, it feels fresh and after I few seconds you don’t feel it, but you can tell your skin is hydrated.  Learn from my mistakes, don’t skip your moisturizer, your skin will thank you and if you combination or oily skin give this one a try.

Milani – Conceal + Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation + Concealer

I have been in the search for a good foundation and I can’t believe I found it at CVS.  I’ve heard great thing about this foundation, the thing with Milani here in Puerto Rico is that you can only find it at CVS (although my friend told me they have brought it back to Wal-Mart, but I haven’t checked), and I only have 2 CVS stores close to me and both are like a 30 minute ride away, one is closer to work, but I’m just not use to visiting CVS (well, that was until recently, because I have become obsessed with a face mask from them, you can read it about it here).  I was running low on foundation and I decided to go and give it a try.  This foundation is medium to full coverage with a semi matte finish. On days I am running late I applied this as you would a foundation and then a little bit more as a concealer and it works great.  I like how it makes my skin look, it doesn’t give that super matte appearance, and it looks very natural.  I have been recommending this to everyone that talks about makeup with me.

Fall Season / Bath and Body Works – Leaves Candle

I love fall colors, boots, scarves, layering clothes, basically everything I cannot experience here in this beautiful hot and humid Island.  So, when I refer to the Fall Season being a “Like” I mean been able to buy Leaves candles from Bath and Body Works.  In Puerto Rico it’s summer all year, but I dream about living in a please where I could experience all the seasons, but for now all I have are home decor and scented candles.  This one is my all-time favorite, the last couple of years I have been buying more than necessary and burning them all year, that’s how much I like it.  It smells sweet and earthy and just perfect, trust me.

Dislikes:

Maybelline – Curvitude Liner in Black

I watch a couple of videos where this eyeliner was used, and I found the shape to be so curious and it seemed easy to apply, and they talk great about it, if you are a reader of this blog you know I love my cat eye, so naturally I immediately wanted to try it.  It applied like a dream, it was easy to use and very pigmented, I was so happy with my makeup, especially because it was my first day back at school.  After 30 minutes at work, and keep in mind I work at desk, reading and writing all day with the A/C on, nothing so hard, I looked like I had been punched in the eyes! It was melting, running from my eyes, I couldn’t believe it, I spent all day cleaning it, trying to make it look good, but it was a disaster, I looked like a monster when I got home at 10pm.  I was so disappointed, I usually really like Maybelline products, but this one I don’t want to use it ever again.

Hurricane Irma

Oh Irma, what a big scared you gave me.  I was prepared for it, but just thinking of a Hurricane, category 5, never seen in the Caribbean, and remembering Hurricane George in 1998, category 3, and how horrible it was, I was extremely nervous for this one, although it would not affect us directly.  Here in Puerto Rico it wasn’t as bad as it could have been, still some cities were seriously affected and let’s not talk about what it caused in the Virgin Islands, my heart breaks every time I watch the news.  This event is definitely a dislike.

Getting Sick

I hate being sick, and hate even more taking medicines, and feeling sick with a cold, and having no electricity after the Hurricane, which meant cold showers and hot nights made everything worse.  As I am writing this I feel like my nose is on fire, I am breathing thru my mouth and my voice doesn’t sound too feminine, it’s not good.  At least this has helped me remember to take my vitamins every morning.

Those has been my likes and  dislikes.  I love to know yours in the comments section below.

Never stop dreaming.

Me gusta:

belif – The True Cream Aqua Bomb

Milani – Conceal + Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation + Concealer

Otoño / Bath and Body Works – Vela Leaves

No me gusta:

¡Oh, Irma, qué susto me diste!

The Look: Fire in Her Eyes

I have been trying really hard to incorporate color to my eye makeup, because I have been into neutral eyes for quite some time.  I believe changes should be made gradually and this look is my attempt to start changing.  To be comfortable with myself I did a neutral eye and a pop of red.
I have to say I am really impressed with how it turned out, I think it looks pretty and simple.  I went about my day very happy, feeling good with my makeup.
I started with my usual go to steps to start any eye makeup, a crème color eyeshadow all over the lid, and a tan color in the crease to use as my transition shade.  After that, I applied an orange shade to the crease, because I am still obsessed with my Naked Heat palette from Urban Decay (you can see another look using this palette here), I applied “Ounce” to the lower lid, a satin cream shade, and “He Devil” a warm orange-brown to the outer portion of the crease.  On the lower lid I dusted a bit of the orange shade and then applied “He Devil” to connect everything.
To bring that pop of color I wanted, I used a red eyeshadow and applied that with an angled liner brush, and sprayed with MAC’s Fix+, to create my cat eye.  To finish, a little bit of highlighter in the inner corner.
In the face, I applied my foundation, powder and bronzer as usual, and applied an almost red blush to keep the color scheme.  I like this blush, Ombre Blush in “Insta Flame” from NYX Cosmetics a lot, but most of the time I am afraid to use it because of the color and how pigmented it is, but I went light handed and everything was ok.  As a final step in the face I applied Highlighter, a step that I never skip, I love me some highlighters.
For the lips, to tie everything together I applied a not to dark brown lipstick.  The one I used is “Raw Chocolate” from Maybelline’s Nude Collection, is my most worn lipstick, it’s a perfect every day, conservative shade, matte but still moisturizing on the lips.
Do you incorporate color in your makeup? If you do, what is your favorite way to do it? Or, are you like me, trying to not be afraid of it? Let me know in the comments.
At the end of the post you can find the list of products I used.
Never stop dreaming.

New Obsessions: Harry Potter and Face Masks

Time to confess… I have two new obsessions, Harry Potter and face masks, yeap, you read right.
Since June, when I watched for the first time all of the Harry Potter movies I became obsessed.  At the beginning of July I went to Orlando, FL to the Universal Studios Resort, and having been there before I wanted to understand the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The plan was to watch the movies before I went. For years I thought I wouldn’t like Harry Potter, I had seen bit and pieces of the movies on tv, but never really paid attention because I though they weren’t my style.  After I saw the first movie, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” I was hooked! That was not the plan…
Now Harry Potter is my guilty pleasure. I can’t wait to read the books and I have been re-watching the movies little by little while I get ready for work on the mornings, and also on the night I decide to do a face mask.
Face mask are my second new obsession.  I am really trying to be good to my skin, and take good care of it. I have been trying different masks to give some love to my face. All the “hard” work is paying off, my skin hasn’t look so good on a long time.
I have the new L’Oréal “Exfoliate & Refine Clay Mask” which I do on Sundays with my boyfriend (he is getting used to being part of my pamper days and of taking care of his skin, I am so proud), and we really like this mask, it leaves my skin feeling super clean and smooth.  It’s a mask that also works as a exfoliator, and I think that’s why my skin feels so good afterwards.  I love that it doesn’t get super hard and dry on the skin.  I put it on for 15 minutes and I feel comfortable the whole time.
I like to do another mask, I usually buy the single use ones on the drugstore, depending of what I want, and do that one on a weekday (right know that day is Thursday). This day I take one hour that is completely “me time”, I put on my face mask, click play on a Harry Potter movie, lay down on bed and enjoy myself.
I found the “Charcoal Lemonade” sheet mask from The Créme Shop at CVS, and I am so glad I did.  I really liked it, it feels refreshing in my skin and it has a really pleasant smell. As for the claims of this mask it did left my skin feeling clean, brighten, and my pores didn’t look that visible. Keep in mind I have just used it twice, but I like how it makes my skin feels.  I find that this one is a bit more hydrating than the L’Oreal one, and that is why I have been enjoying it, they complement each other very well.
So those are my new obsessions. I can’t wait to read the Harry Potter books and also go back to Universal Studios Resort, eat a Chocolate Frog and drink a Butterbeer.
Tell me your current obsessions on the comments, I will love to know.  Also let me know if you have a favorite face mask, I want to keep trying new ones.
Never stop dreaming,
Steph

Steph
Butterbeer dreams…

The Look: Sunset Eyes

What better way to come back to blogging than with this beautiful eyeshadow palette? I think it’s perfect!

As soon as I saw the new Naked Heat palette from Urban Decay in social media I feel in love. The colors are so pretty, and I really like how the orange-y colors look on my hazel eyes, I knew this palette was a must have in my life.

I love the results of this makeup look, it makes me think of a beautiful sunset, and sunsets are one of my favorite things in the world.  As soon as I finished doing my makeup I knew I had to share it.

I started with the shade “Ounce” all over the lid as my base color, and then applied “Sauce as my transition shade on the crease.  After that the fun started. I applied “Cayenne” on the crease and then jumper to work on the lower lid with “Lumbre” that I sprayed with a bit of Mac’s Fix+, to make it shine even more.  Then I returned to the crease, there I applied “En Fuego” a lower than “Cayenne” and to darken the look I took “Ashes” and applied it forming a “v” on the outer conner of the eye.

In the lower lid I applied first my transition shade “Sauced” then “Cayenne” without bringing it to close to inner conner, to finish and connect the shadow I did a little bit of “Ashes” on the outer conner.

I finished the eyes with a black cat eye and mascara. On the face a bit of bronzer and pretty nude shade of blush.  On the lips, because I wanted the attention on the eyes, I went with a nude shade, and after that I was ready to go.

I hope you love this look as much as I did. Let me know in the comments what are your thoughts on this new palette from Urban Decay, if you love it as much as me or if it’s a pass for you.

I have listed all the products with links at the end of the post if you want to know the other products I used.

I love being back on Dreaming Life in Pink. Thank you for taking your time to read me. Until next time.

Never stop dreaming,

 Steph

Fall Night Routine

This past week, that I had some free days before my classes start again, I decided I wanted to incorporate into my life a night routine.  I believe that having a night routine will help your mind recognize that the time to go to sleep is approaching, and it’s also a great way to treat yourself.  So, here I present to you my routine.

Hot Cup of Chai Tea

I have been obsessed with this Chai Tea, specially with milk (Latte) lately.  I love the the taste of spices, and I find it so perfect to drink in this Fall season.  I have been really enjoying it now that at night the weather gets a bit chilly.  I fill so relax drinking it, and that’s exactly the feeling I want before going to sleep.  In the morning I like drinking it cold, to calm down in my way to work.

Vanilla Lavender Candle

After my cup of tea is ready I go to my room and light this candle from Bath and Body Works.  My go to way to relax has always been thru good smelling things like candles and body products.  And this candle just set the perfect atmosphere to whine down.

Good Book

I am currently reading Adultery by Pablo Coelho, and so far I am enjoying it.  It’s an easy and light read.  It makes you think about your life, how you are living it and things you will do differently.  From my routine, this part is the one I am most looking forward to keeping even when I start my classes again,  I have a lot of books I want to read.  Plus, reading because I want to and not because I have to is very comforting.

After I am done reading, I go wash my cup and blow off my candle, before I turn my light off I spray this Pillow Mist on my bed and climb in it.  It smells so good.  I love the lavender scent, it’s not over powering, it gives your sheet that clean smell.  Who doesn’t love sleeping in recently clean sheets? But because that is not possible every day this is the second best.

After all that I am ready to sleep.  I am still trying to stop using electronics an hour before going to sleep, but I haven’t had much luck with that, I am kind of addicted to Facebook, but I am aware of it and I am trying to work on it.

I like having this little routine and now I want to start working on a morning routine.  That one is so difficult, I feel like I am always so tired in the morning, no matter how early I go to sleep.  I am always late and running around like crazy before I go to work,  My goal is to wake up and have enough time to eat breakfast at home and not in the car, and to not feel in a hurry every morning.  I’ll keep you guys posted with how it turns out.

Do you have a routine for your mornings or nights?  What is something that helps you get ready to sleep? Let me know in the comments below.  Also if you have any tips I could use for my still in process morning routine, I would appreciated.

Always dreaming,

 Steph

October Makeup Wishlist (Study Motivation)

I tend to always do a Makeup Wishlist at the start of a new semester, but this semester I didn’t came around do it.  Now that this term is coming to an end, I feel like this is the perfect time to do it, I really need the inspiration.  My goal with these wishlists is to give my best, try to earn good grades, and at the end of the semester I will reward my myself with something from the list.  They are usually high-end products, but this time I have 2 drugstore products that I really want.

1. NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick

I have to admit I was late to this party, while everyone was raving about them they didn’t caught my eye.  One day I was looking for a brown lipstick and found Teddy, and decided to give it a try.  If you follow me on Instagram, this goes without saying, I am obsessed with it, I think that I wear it 4 out 7 days in the week, it looks so pretty, and it feels so good.  (I also created a “The Look” post with it, you can read it here.)  After that I went and bought Exotic that I also really like. Now I am determined to own the majority of the shades, if not all of them, I am that obsessed.

2. Wet n’ Wild ColorIcon Rainbow Highlighter

I have to confess that the only reason I haven’t bought this highlighter yet is because I can’t find it anywhere, I think it hasn’t come to Puerto Rico yet (If someone knows where I could find it, please let me know).  I really think that as soon as I see it on stores I will be buying it.  It looks so pretty, so colorful, I don’t own anything like it, it will be so fun to have in my collection. Can’t wait!

3.  Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics

I am sure this is a product I NEED in my life.  I love all my Naked palettes (the only one I don’t own is the Naked Smokey one, and it’s on my first Study Motivation Makeup Wishlist that you can see here, and I still want it).  But this palette looks perfect for everyday, I don’t wear eye shadows everyday, but with this I am sure I will.  The colors look so pretty, and the different shades will work well from a everyday natural look to a dramatic smokey eye.

4. BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal

Highlighters are part of my everyday makeup routine. My favorite highlighter is Champagne Pop by Jaclyn Hill from Becca, and I really want to try another one from them, in hopes that it is the same formula and pigmentation as Champagne Pop.  I have my eye on Opal because of the color.  I tend to always go for golden/bronze shades in my highlighters, this one is gold but has a hint of pink in it, which makes me very attracted to it. I am dreaming about it.

5. Kat Von D Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Set

How cute does those colors look?! I don’t own anything from Kat Von D, but most of the time they make their way into my Wishlists, I am hoping I can change that soon and this set looks like it may be it. This 8 shades go from natural to dramatic, and I am a firm believer that a girl needs to have choices.  I can see my self on a Friday night rocking that blue shade, yes please!  They have really good reviews, I am excited to see them personally on Sephora.

I will love to know what is currently on your makeup wishlist, be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Always dreaming,

The Look: Fall Lover

Last week I celebrated my first year of blogging, you can go read the post here, and in my book, there is no better way to celebrate than with makeup.
I got inspired with the idea of Fall, and I say idea, because theres is no Autumn in Puerto Rico, here is always Summer, always hot. I love the typical Fall colors and my Coastal Scents, Festive Fall Palette, is perfect for this time of year, and that is how this look was born.
I applied my primer, foundation, concealer and powder, and then went to play with my eye makeup. First I applied a light cream color all over the lid to help the eyeshadows I was going to apply later blend better. And then the fun begun!
I started blending the orange color from my Wet n Wild, Art in the Streets,  eyeshadow palette in my crease, as a blending color.  Then I choose a bronze color for the upper lid and in the middle a more golden one. In the crease I applied a brown eyeshadow that I blended with the orange I first applied.  Because I wanted this look to have a lot of orange I applied that same shade in my lower lid and in the outer conner a little bit of the brown to darken the look. I did a cat eye (my favorite way to wear eyeliner), and applied a little bit of black eyeliner to the outer conner of my lower lid. The final touch was two coats of mascara.
In my face I did a bit of contour, mostly because the foundation I’m using is bit lighter for me and I use it to give my face more color.  In the cheeks I applied a orange blush to go with the eyes, and highlighted the high points of my face and the inner conner of the eyes with the bronze shade in my Wet n Wild, megaglo Illuminating Palette in Catwalk Pink.
To finish the look I applied what has been my favorite lip color this past few weeks, a beautiful brown matte shade that feels good on the lips.
Here is the list of products I used:
Face:
L’Oreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation in N3.5
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles in Light
Coty Airspun Translucent Loose Face Powder
Eyes:
