12 Days of Red Lipstick (Starting December 1st)

12 Days of Red Lipstick (Starting December 1st)

I know I have been absent on the blog, but life has been super busy, also, super exciting things have been happening, and I have been super stretch with time and everything I want to do. But with everything happening I couldn’t be more happy, still I miss writing so much, so here I am. It’s the beginning of the holiday season and this year I want to celebrate on a big way.

Today I wanted to come here and talk about the 12 Days of Red Lipstick Challenge I will be doing from December 1st thru the 12th, to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season. I love red lipstick during the entire year, but December is a good excuse, plus I consider red to be the color of the season.

I did this little challenge back on December 2015. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to do it again. From 2015 to now a lot of red lipsticks have passed thru my lips, I have some new favorites and I have been buying some new ones to try. I am sure I don’t have to say it, but I am super excited about it.

So what is the 12 Days of Red Lipstick Challenge? For twelve days I will be posting a photo on my social media (Instagram and Facebook), wearing a red lipstick and at the end I will be doing a recap post telling you my thoughts on the 12 lipsticks I wore.

I do it for fun and I hope you can help me make it even better by also wearing red lips, uploading your photos, tagging me, and using the hashtags #12daysofredlipstick and #dreaminglifeinpink. I love discovering new lipsticks, so be sure to let me know your favorites. Let’s make the beginning of this beautiful season, fun and special.

See you on December 1st with red lips!

NYX Cosmetics Products Review

NYX Cosmetics Products Review

Last Friday I took advantage of a NYX Cosmetics coupon from Gustazos. For that day only and presenting the coupon at Walgreens you could buy up to 5 NYX Cosmetics products for $4. Being the makeup addict that I am, I couldn’t let this opportunity pass, I had to take  it and try new makeup. So I bought a couple of things and of course I had to “play” with them and share my thoughts with you. So, here is my little review.

Lid Lingerie Shadow Palette

This shadows are perfect for someone wanting to create more of an everyday neutral look. These are all matte, which I thought was awesome. There are not a variety of shades, but the great part is that they are very pigmented. In conclusion, if you are looking for some high quality neutral matte shadows give this one a try.

Away We Glow Illuminating Powder

I bought this product because I thought the color will be a perfect blush for Fall. This little guy was so pigmented! The first time I tried it I looked like a clown! What I have been doing is that I only tap twice on the product, very light handed and then I apply it to the apples of the cheek. The lightest color I use has a highlight, but that shade in particular doesn’t have a good color payoff. Sadly I know I will not be grabbing this product on a daily basis, but is not an overall bad product and I will definitely try other shades.

That’s The Point Put a Wing on It Artistry Liner

I am always looking for a good liquid liner to create my cat eyes and this one claimed to be the perfect candidate for the job. Sadly this product I regret buying. This product it’s not easy to work with. I had little to no product deposit from the tip of the liner. For the line to be very black I had to stamp the sides of the liner to my eye lid which resulted on a thick line. Since the tip didn’t have enough product in it, it was very difficult to create the wing and super easy to just make a mess of your makeup. I tried to make it work on 3 occasions and it was always the same, and the 3 times I ended going over it with another liquid liner to make it look some what decent.

Sleap Tease Lip Lacquer

This lip product is very pigmented and glossy and if that is something you are into, great! Before applying the lipstick on my lips I have to really take my time “cleaning” the applicator in the tub, because if I don’t do that I will have a sticky mess on my lips. I try to apply it very light handed and I bloat my lips to take the excess off. This is not a product I dislike, I just think that at the moment they are not the kind of finish I am after. Something good I have to say is that they wear off evenly and they leave a little tint on your lips that looks cute.

Worth the Hype Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara

This mascara I love!! I love how it makes my lashes look. This is one of the things I bought that I am sure I will keep repurchasing. It makes my lashes look full and long with only two coats. What more can I say? I love it and you should go and buy your self one as soon as possible, trust me.

Have you tried any of these products? If you have what are your thoughts? Is any of these products on you makeup wishlist? Did you had the opportunity to use the Gustazo, and if so, what did you bought? I will love to know, be sure to leave your comments below.

How to Have Enough Time

How to Have Enough Time

I am guilty of saying I don’t have time to do things, but the truth is that some how I always find myself scrolling mindlessly on social media, specially pinterest. So the question is, do I really not have time, or do I don’t make time for “better” or more important things? Surely the correct answer is the last one. I will like to believe that I am not the only one suffering of this, please tell me I am not. Recently I have started exploring how to minimize my I don’t have time dilemma, working with my time management, trying to be more productive, and on making me feel like I am making the most of time. That is why I want to share with you, what so far I have identified as helpful in the manner. I hope it can help you too.

Make a master list

In this master list you are going to write down everything you have to do and everything you want to do. Maybe is super long, or not, but this is the first step. You can organize it by categories if you want to be extra organize. And every time something comes to mind write it down on your master list.

Set priorities

So you have the super list, now is time to prioritize. Make another list with the most important things you have or want to do. After you have the most important things, add numbers to each item, 1 being the most important. This one I do recommend you section in Have To Do and Want To Do.

Simple things list

This list is of things that you necessarily don’t have to do, but want to, or that you always putt off doing. This things don’t take too much time or energy to do or are not a big deal if you don’t do them right away. Think of them as a filler for your day, and that way you are less tempted to spend precious time scrolling on social media (yes, that is what I tell myself).

Plan your day

Now that you have all your lists is time to plan your days. Find the and place for planning that works best for you. Maybe you can plan the entire week on one day, or maybe you can do it everyday. Right now the way I am doing it is that as part of my night routine I plan the next day. My list consists of 3 lists with a maximum of 3 items each. I do it this way so that I don’t feel overwhelm, I have more chances of completing everything on my list and I feel motivated to keep doing it.

Maintain a positive self talk

This last thing is the most important. To keep yourself motivated, find the time and energy to do this things you have and/or want to do, you have to keep a positive attitude. Work on taking off your vocabulary the phrase “I don’t have time” and try to change for something positive. For example on my desk at work I have a post it note with the phrase “El tiempo me da y me sobra”, which means something like “ I have plenty of time”. If at the end of the day you couldn’t complete everything you planned to do, don’t be hard on yourself, there is always another day. Make sure you enjoy the process and enjoy your time.

I hope this post can be helpful on your life and on your day to day. I think we always day dream about doing a lot of things and at the end of the day we don’t do it. But with this I want to motivate you and give you a plan on how you can change that, take control of your time and be productive.

What do you think of the method I shared with you? Do you think this could be something helpful? What do you do to accomplish your daily tasks? Do you organize your day? I will love to know, so be sure to leave me your comments below. Also don’t forget to subscribe to the blog.

End of Year Goals

End of Year Goals

We are in the last quarter of the year and I am sure I am not the only one who thinks that this year has flown by fast. We usually wait ‘till the start of the year to make a list of goals or resolutions for the new year. But since I believe we can make any day or moment of the year a fresh start, I propose we think of a couple of things or goals we want to do or accomplish next year and start working on them now.

It’s not very productive to do a long list of new year resolutions to start working on in January 1st. I bet there are things on the list you made (physical or mentally) for this year that maybe you started doing and then stopped or things you never did. So here is my plan, pick 3 things you want to add to your daily routine in this last 3 months of the year, and let’s finish 2018 strong!

I have a very handy and easy method to create goals and accomplish them that you can read here (go read it, it will be super helpful). But the short version of it is to make a plan on how you are going to work on accomplishing that goal or task.

First. I want you to pick 3 things, they can be related or not, because I want you to concentrate in one each month. This is specially helpful if you are working on habits. That way you don’t feel overwhelmed trying or doing a lot of new things at once and you can give each one all your attention.

Second. Identify how to keep track of you progress. You can use a pen and paper, your notes app on your phone, an app like Streaks or an Excel document (like me) to mark off every time you do or work on that specific task or goal.

These are my goals:
October – Wakeup at 4:30 am everyday to read and meditate. I used to do this for a couple of months at the beginning of the year, but then summer vacations came and I stop. It’s something I want to incorporate again to my morning routine and bring it to the new year.

November – Journal every day. I stopped writing in a journal and I don’t even know why. So, my goal for this month is to keep a daily gratitude journal (very fitting for this month) Something sweet and short to get back to it.

December – Eat a homemade, somewhat healthy breakfast every morning. I usually have hard boiled eggs with cheese during my weekdays, it’s easy and kind of fast to do, but there are times I get lazy, and my breakfasts are pop tarts or sugary cereals (sadly they have become a very regular thing). Since the holidays in Puerto Rico are not very healthy, I want to at least make sure I have a good, homemade breakfast every morning, to start my day right.

This monthly goals are things I will work for that month but continue the next month. They are things I want to add to my daily routine starting now and for the next year. These are all things I enjoy doing, but for some reason or another I stopped doing. I say this, because is important that you work on things you like and that make you feel good and that way it will be easier to accomplish them.

Do you already have your monthly goals for what is left of 2018? Will you be working on your habits before the new year? How do you plan keep track of your goals? If you have any question or suggestion be sure to leave me your comment below, I love reading them.

Ps. The giveaway is open until tomorrow, Friday, October 12, in the evening, if you haven’t enter go here to learn how.

Skin Care Favorites

Skin Care Favorites

My skin is far from perfect, but I have been lucky enough to find a couple of products that have been great on my skin.  My skin looks the best it has look in the last couple of years and I believe this products have done the trick, plus drinking a lot of water. Of course, keep in mind every one is different and maybe what works for me doesn’t work for you, but also, you will not know until you try it. If you are going to try one of this products (or any other face product), do it one by one, and give them a little bit of time, that way if something reacts in a bad way on your skin you know what it was. But now, without further a due, I present to you my favorite skin care products.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser

I used this face cleanser for the first time more than 5 years ago, I remembered I really liked it and I don’t know why I stopped using it. I used a lot of different products, but didn’t truly love any, until finally I came back to it.  It has been more than a year that I have been using it again, and I love it.  It’s gentle on the skin, it leaves my skin super clean, no trace of makeup after I wash my face, and the best part is that after I use it I don’t feel my face dry or weird. It lathers really well and cleans my face while also keeping it hydrated. I don’t feel the need to go running to apply moisturizer, my face feels good.

Belief The True Cream Aqua Bomb

This moisturizer was recommended to me on a makeup class I went and since then I have been using it. It has been more than a year and every time my jar is running low I have to go and buy another one. This is not a cream, is water based and has kind of a jelly consistency, which is great for combination and oily skin types.  I love how it moisturizes my skin, it’s lightweight and it has a cooling effect. My face absorbs the product fast, and it lefts my skin looking healthy and glowy, which it’s a big plus, because for a long time last semester I wasn’t wearing makeup and I loved how my skin was looking.  The fast absorbing part is great for when you don’t have a lot of time in the morning, I apply my moisturizer and then I proceed to apply my makeup, I don’t have to wait a long time for it to dry, so I don’t have to loose precious time during my morning routine.

Tarte Maracuja Oil

This product has been my holy grail for more than 5 years. I don’t have anything bad to say about it.  I used to suffered of dry patches on my face, and since I started using this product that hasn’t happened. I use this oil as my main night moisturizer, I some times combined it with other things, with mostly I used it with just my eye moisturizer.  I apply this oil on my face, neck and lips and a little bit goes a long way. The skin doesn’t absorbs it super fast, but since I am going to sleep I am in no hurry. The next day my face feels soft and hydrated. I believe it has also helped me with my occasional pimple, I feel like they don’t last as long as they used to since I have been using this product.

If there is something I want you to take away from this is that having a hydrated and moisturized face/skin is important, it will make your skin look better and healthier, while helping keep the wrinkles away.  I have expression marks in my face, because I talk with my face, I am always doing some kind of weird face or expression, I can’t help it, but I believe that if I wasn’t using this products my fine lines and wrinkles will be worse. If you have oily skin don’t shy away from hydrating or oily products, they can also be of help to you.

Have you tried any of this products? Which skin care product you can’t live without? Do you have any recommendations for me? Be sure to leave your comment below.

PS.

I have a giveaway open until Friday, October 12, 2018, to see what I am giving away and how to enter visit my Blogversary post here.

My goal in life is to help people, which is the reason I went into studying psychology, and I love that Dreaming Life in Pink has given me the opportunity to do that in one way or another.

Fall Essentials

Fall Essentials

It’s no secret I love Fall, even though here in Puerto Rico it feels like Summer all year around. But I really love the idea of Fall, the colors, the makeup, Halloween and Thanksgiving (which for me is the beginning of the Christmas season). There are a couple of things I consider that are Fall essentials and I have to have every year once September rolls around, although this year I was super excited and my Fall season started at the end of August. Now that is officially Fall and to keep my Autumn spirit high, I share with you my must have this season.

Leaves Candle

I always have candles and I am obsessed with making my space smell good, but if I don’t burn a Leaves candle of Bath and Body Works is not Fall. Every year I stock up on them every time they go on sale (which is the only time I buy candles). I love the scent, it’s a describe in the BWW website as Crisp Red Apple, Golden Nectar and Warm Clove Spice. I even have a room spray and wallflowers plug ins of the same kind, for me this is the scent of Fall.

Dark Lipsticks

I love Fall inspired makeup (I already did one this year, you can see it here), I love dark lipsticks and even more the fact that in this time of year is acceptable to wear a dark eye look with a dark lipstick. I wear dark lipsticks during all the seasons of the year, but in Fall is almost every day. I am still loving Maybelline’s Super Stay Matte Ink Lipsticks and my current favorites are 75 Fighter and 50 Voyager. You will definitely see me rocking them a lot this season.

Hot Chocolate

There is nothing that screams Fall like enjoying a cup of hot chocolate (or your favorite hot beverage). Sadly it’s still to hot for me to really enjoy one, so for now I am enjoying my glass of cold chocolate milk, seating in front of my beautifully decorated wall, watching Good Witch on Netflix and feeling festive, but as soon as I can I am doing the switch to hot chocolate.

Candy Corn

I know not everyone shares my opinion in this one, but for me, if it’s Fall I have to eat Candy Corn, it’s just necessary. I love them, I could eat them every day during Fall, and not get tired of them, although that is not very healthy. This year I even made them part of the decor and they look so pretty, the only thing is that for it to look pretty I will have to refill it a couple of times during the season (which I already have to do…), because I am constantly graving the candy from the jar. Let me know in the comments what is your go to “Autumn” candy.

Halloween Movies

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and when October comes I make time to watch Halloween movies, but ones that aren’t creepy or scary. My movies have to be family friendly and fun to watch. This year I am looking forward to seeing Hocus Pocus (a classic), Beetlejuice and Halloweentown. The snacks for the movie nights, because in my opinion Halloween movies should be watch at night, will be popcorn, chocolates, and of course, candy corn.

What were your thoughts about my list? Do you have Fall favorites? Is there something you do exclusively this time of year? If you have any other recommendations of essentials I should add to my list, let me know in the comments below.

The Look: Fall Dream

The Look: Fall Dream

I have to start by saying that I cheated… If you read my Makeup Wishlist (you can read it here), you know a mentioned a beautiful eye shadow palette by Huda Beauty was one of the things I wanted to buy myself at the end of the semester. Well… that didn’t happened…

Ok, but I can defend myself! It’s just that I love Fall, it’s no secret. And that palette just screamed Fall to me. And how could I wait until almost Christmas to buy it?! I know you understand.

That beautiful Huda Beauty Eye Shadow Palette in Coral Obsessions was the inspiration behind this gorgeous Fall Dream makeup look I created.

Since it was the first time using this eyeshadow palette I started with the eyes, in case I had any fall out, but it wasn’t something major, the shadows are very creamy. The first shade I used was the lightest color of the palette, the tan shade, in my crease and then to start building it, I applied the burnt orange shade also in the crease. To darken the look a bit, I applied the orange-brown shade to the otter corner of the lid, creating an cat eye effect with it. To make the cat eye effect more dramatic I applied a dark cranberry shade from The Jaclyn Hill Palette.

The most exciting part of this look, for me, was the upper lid area. I applied concealer from the inner corner to the center of the eye to make the colors pop even more. Then I applied the yellow shade on the inner corner of the eye trying to leave the center of the eye without color . To finish it I applied the glittered yellow-orange-red shade with my finger in the center of the eye. It was the cherry on the top.

In the lower lid I started with the yellow shade and gradually darkened it with the burnt orange, brown and last the dark cranberry shade. Lastly I applied my mascara and I was done with the eyes.

In the face I applied my foundation, concealer, and powder. I contoured my face and baked under my eyes and under my cheek contour to make it more dramatic. I finished with a little bit of a luminous golden-coral blush and pinky highlighter.

To finish and bring everything together, plus to take advantage of the Fall season, I went with a dark wine shade.

What were your thoughts about this makeup look? Does your makeup style changes with the season? What is your favorite thing about Fall? I will love to know. Be sure to leave your comments below.

Easy Self Care Tips

Easy Self Care Tips

For me, Self Care is the most important thing in health care, because it combines everything. Self Care is taking care of you, taking time to do things that will help you feel good, and if you feel good chances are you will have good mental health and those two combined will help you have better physical health and overall a good life. What I want you to take from this is that spending time on yourself is important, even though it may not be easy sometimes, try to make it a priority and find the time to at least incorporate some self care activities to your life, even if it’s just a couple of times every month. That is why I want to share with you easy self care tips, things you don’t have to plan and organize ahead of time and that will not require too much decision making.

(In this post I will not talk directly about Mindfulness although it’s in there indirectly, but I do want to mention that Mindfulness is my number one self care activity, if you want to read more about it click here.)

Have a Organized Living Space

This is my first and most important tip. There is nothing more relaxing and that makes me happy than having my apartment organized and everything looking good. Getting home after a long or hard day and seeing everything clean and in it’s place, instantly makes me happy, it changes my mood immediately. For me it can be easy, since a have a small apartment and I live alone. But find a spot in your home, that will become your happy and relaxing spot, and try to maintain it clean and organized, it can be your bedroom, kitchen, bathroom or a little corner on your living room, anywhere you will like. Identify where you like to spend most of your time and keep it tidy. If I had a bigger house and a family, I think mine will be a corner in the patio (it’s my dream), where I can seat, be connected to nature, even if it just the grass, and just relax. Keep in mind that a organized space will help you have an organized mind.

Read Books

I encourage you to find a good book, if reading is something you like to do, and even if you think you don’t like it that much. Taking time to loose your self in the story or the message of a book, it’s truly magical. The most important thing is to find a book you like or interest you, and schedule some time to just read and nothing else. I love riding about different things, but when I want to read as a way of self care I always go for fiction. It’s a great way to use your imagination and be transported to another world.

Watch Movies

If you don’t like reading that much, or want something “easier” than reading, then watch a movie. Again, find something you like or interest you and that will make you feel good (if you are sad don’t watch something that you know will make you more sad than you are) and watch it with all your attention on it, without distractions, and that means no multitasking, no social media, etc. Immerse yourself in the story, laugh, cry, get mad, but have a good time. My self care movie are usually Disney movies, like Aladdin, my all time favorite, or something along those lines. To make the experience even more relaxing have little lists (emphasis on little) of movies you like watching or will like to watch and choose something from there, it will be better than browsing Netflix for half and hour trying to find something to watch.

Have Spa Nights (or days or little moments)

This one is my favorite self care activity. It can be super simple, just 5 extra minutes during your shower, or you can go all out and make an event out of it. Light a candle or two, play slow music, do a face mask, face and body scrubs, take a shower with a nice smelling product, apply a cream or oil to your body and moisturize your face. The key is to do thinks that make you feel good. Just enjoy the process and the sensations and concentrate on what you are doing, and try to not think of anything else.

Making a Simple Home Cook Meal

Having a easy and simple recipe that you can do without putting to much effort in it can be a lifesaver. This will help you to consume less fast food or junk food, because you already have something that you can do fast and easy. My go to recipe is rice and chilli. I do my rice in the microwave, super easy, and the chilli I use ground turkey (that I always have on my freezer) and canned pink beans. It’s tasty, easy and fast. So identity your easy go to recipe and make sure to always have the ingredients on hand, and you will have something less to worry about when you are tired or have had a hard day.

I love taking time to do things that will help me relax and enjoy myself, and I hope you can find the time to incorporate some (or all) of this to your life. Identify what makes you fill good and make a mental note to do it constantly.

What do you think about these tips? Do you have other self care activities that I did not mentioned? What is your favorite way to give your self some love? I will love to know in the comments below.

I want to share with you this quote:

“Self care isn’t selfish. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.” – Eleanor Brownn

August Makeup Wishlist (Study Motivation)

August Makeup Wishlist (Study Motivation)

It’s no secret that I love browsing the Sephora app in my spare time, and since it’s the beginning of a new semester I thought I will do a Makeup Wishlist to keep myself motivated.  And this one is very special since it’s the last semester of my Masters Degree, this 3 years went flying by, I still remember my first day, nervous and excited, now I am still excited but instead of nervous I am exhausted, so I need all the motivation I can get.

My makeup wishlist are things I will like to buy myself at the end of the semester as a reward for doing my best during the school months. Browsing in the Sephora app, the store, plus watching Youtube videos, this were the products that caught my eye.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Kilawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Girl Next Door / Chic Phreak

The last time I went to Sephora an employee tried this highlighter on me, and it look so pretty. Of course me being the highlighter addict that I am, I fell in love. It has been on the top of my wishlist since that day.  Plus it’s Fenty Beauty, and everyone is raving about it, I want to truly experience the brand myself.

Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette in Coral

This little and beautiful palette caught my eye when I was at the store.  To me it just screams Fall, and I love everything Fall, even though here in Puerto Rico is always Summer.  I love this colors, and I know this is a palette that I will use a lot.  And like Fenty Beauty, Huda Beauty is a brand that a lot of people rave about, and I want to give them a try too.

Stila Glitter On The Go Eye Shadow Set

When the time comes for me to buy myself things from this list we are going to be in the Holiday Season, and when I saw this product in the app I immediately thought of all the fun looks I could create during the Holidays with it.  I had a vision of me with a beautiful sparkly eye makeup during the festivities, plus, I think that during that season, glitter is a necessity, am I the only one?

Too Faced Melted Matte-Tallic Liquified Metallic Matte Lipstic in Bitch, I am Too Faced

And what better way to finish a festive look than with a red lip? I have been thinking about doing the 12 Days of Red Lipstick this year again, so I have to start looking for new lipsticks. I haven’t actually seen the product, but in my mind it looks so good, red and metallic, yes please. Plus it’s Too Faced, and so long I haven’t had anything bad to say about this brand, so I am trusting them. If you have a favorite red lipstick, please be sure to tell me in the comments below.

Morphe X Jaclyn Hill The Master Collection

Ok, so not everything is from Sephora, (like in my last Makeup Wishlist), this one is from Morphe, and not just that, is a Morphe x Jaclyn Hill product, yes, again. It’s no secret I love Jaclyn Hill and everything I have bought from hers I love. I have been thinking about buying new brushes for a while now, and just recently Jaclyn and Morphe came out with this, and I took that as a sign. The kit comes with 24 brushes, plus that gorgeous sparkly case, and yes, I consider the price to be a bit extravagant, but I think I deserve a super nice Christmas present, so that it’s my plan.

What’s on your makeup wishlist? Are any of this products something you want to buy? Also, what things you do to motivate yourself to get tings acomplished? Let me know everything in the comments below.

Never stop dreaming,
